Due to discontinuation of reagent production in the U.S. by the assay vendor, Mayo Clinic Laboratories HIV-1 DNA and RNA by PCR, Qualitative, Plasma assay will be discontinued effective September 6, 2022. This test is used for virologic detection of HIV-1 infection in infants <18 months of age (an age group for which serologic tests are unreliable) born to HIV-1-infected mothers. Alternative testing has not been identified at this time.
