Michigan Medicine is occasionally supplying Greiner lavender top tubes due to shortages of the BD tubes.  MLabs Coagulation Laboratory has performed validation studies and determined that the Greiner tubes cannot be used for Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate testing.  The Greiner tubes are acceptable for all other Hematology laboratory testing requiring a lavender top tube. 

If a Greiner lavender top tube is submitted for ESRA testing, the test will be cancelled with the comment: Sample tube type unacceptable for ESRA testing.
