Effective March 22, 2021, MLabs will discontinue Methemoglobin Reductase, RBC (MMLR). The recommended alternative test is Cytochrome b5 Reductase Enzyme Activity, Blood (MMLR) per Mayo Medical Laboratories.

 

Collection Instructions: Collect 6 mL of whole blood in a ACD-B solution vacutainer or Lavender top EDTA vacutainer. Ship the whole blood refrigerated. 

 

Methodology:  Kinetic Spectrophotometry

 

Test Analysis: Test performed varies, 1 day

 

Reference Range:  ≥ 12 months of age 7.8 - 13 U/g Hb; Reference range has not been established for ages < 12 months.
