Phosphatidylethanol Whole Blood

On December 7, 2020 MLabs will offer Phosphatidylethanol, whole blood (PETH) testing in-house. This will replace the sendout test to Mayo Medical Laboratories.
Test Usage: The Phosphatidylethanol (PETH) assay measures abnormal phospholipids, specifically, 16:0/18:1, 1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanol that are a direct biomarker found in the blood following alcohol consumption. This can be detected in the blood for up to 3-4 weeks post heavy alcohol consumption.
Collection Instructions: Collect a minimum of 1 mL of whole blood an EDTA lavender top vacutainer. Ship the specimen refrigerated within 72 hours or frozen within 14 days of collection.

Reference range: <20 ng/mL in pediatric and adult patients
