Effective October 1, 2019, MLabs will offer Acylcarnitines, Quantitative, Plasma (ACARN) to replace the Acylcarnitines, Quantitative, Plasma test sent to Mayo Medical Laboratories.

Specimen Collection: Collect approximately 3 mL of whole blood in a green top tube (sodium heparin). Centrifuge within 2 hours of collection, aliquot plasma and freeze (preferred) or store at refrigerated temperature (2-8°C) for up to 7 days. Grossly hemolytic specimens are unacceptable. Plasma specimens stored at room temperature greater than 2 hours are unacceptable.
