Specimen Requirements

Collection Onsite

Collect specimen in a royal blue top (trace element) tube with EDTA (K2). Send to Specimen Processing in a green bag. Specimen must be spun and aliquotted within 2 hours of collection.

Collection Offsite

Royal blue (trace element) and/or Metal-Free aliquot tubes are available from MLabs (800-862-7284). Collect blood in a royal blue top (trace element) tube with EDTA (K2). Centrifuge and aliquot plasma into a metal-free tube within 2 hours of collection (KEEP red blood cells). Leave RBCs in original royal blue top tube (replacing original stopper).
