Semi-Quantitative Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay

Test Usage

Aid in the diagnosis of non-acute (chronic phase) Chagas disease (T. cruzi).

Reference Range *

1.0 IV or less Negative - No significant level of Trypanosoma cruzi IgG antibody detected; 1.1 IV Equivocal - Questionable presence of Trypanosoma cruzi IgG antibody detected. Repeat testing in 10-14 days may be helpful; 1.2 IV or greater Positive - IgG antibodies to Trypanosoma cruzi detected, which may suggest current or past infection.

Collection Instructions

Collect specimen in SST tube. Spin and aliquot into a screw capped tube, WITHIN 2 hours of collection. Send to Specimen Processing refrigerated

Contraindications
This assay should not be used for blood donor screening or associated re-entry protocols, or for screening Human Cell and Cellular Tissue-Based Products (HCT/Ps).
