Immunoturbidimetric

Test Usage

Differentiates iron deficiency anemia (increased transferrin) from hypochromic, microcytic anemias (normal to low transferrin). Transferrin is decreased in nephrotic syndrome, active inflammatory conditions, protein-losing conditions, and severe liver disease and increased in estrogen therapy.

Collection Offsite

Collect specimen in an SST tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and refrigerate up to 1 week or freeze for longer storage.
