Direct Immunofluorescence using flow cytometric techniques.

Test Usage

Evaluation of Rituximab therapy. A full lymphoid cell panel is run, including B and T cell quantitation and natural killer cell quantitation. Markers include CD3, CD4, CD8, CD16/56, CD19, CD20 and CD4:CD8 ratio (T4:T8 ratio). See… for all Flow Cytometry Panels.

Absolute ranges are calculated utilizing absolute lymphocyte count ranges for the same age groups provided by the hematology laboratory.[/bold]

Specimen Requirements

Collection Onsite

Collect specimen in a yellow top ACD A or B Vacutainer® tube.
A concurrent Complete Blood Count with Differential (CBCD) should also be ordered for the patient.
Send intact whole blood stored at room temperature within 4 hours of collection; do not refrigerate.

Collection Offsite

Collect specimen in a yellow top ACD A or B Vacutainer® tube.
Include a copy of the patient's complete blood count (CBC) and white cell differential drawn concurrently or within the previous 8 hours.
Send intact whole blood stored at room temperature within 72 hours of collection; do not refrigerate.

Normal Volume
7 - 10 mL ACD whole blood
Minimum Volume
3 mL ACD whole blood
