Electrochemiluminescent Immunoassay

Test Usage

This assay is used for monitoring disease after radical prostatectomy; the limit of quantitation for this assay is 0.01 ng/mL. This test should not be used for initial prostate cancer screening.

Reference Range

Age <40 yrs: <or= 2.0 ng/mL, 40-49 yrs: <or= 2.5 ng/mL, 50-59 yrs: <or= 3.5 ng/mL, 60-69 yrs: <o= 4.5 ng/mL, 70-79 yrs: <or= 6.5 ng/mL, >or=80 yrs: <or= 7.2 ng/mL

Specimen Requirements

Collection Instructions

Patient should not take multivitamins or dietary supplements containing biotin or vitamin B7 for 12 hours prior to specimen collection. Collect specimen in an SST or red top tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial within 2 hours of collection and freeze (preferred) or refrigerate for up to 5 days
