Collection Instructions

Collect swab specimen of cervix, endocervix, vagina (posterior fornix) or urethra using dacron or rayon swab with an aluminum or plastic shaft; do not use cotton or wooden handled swab. Place swab in aerobic transport. Store at room temperature and send to MLabs within 24 hours of collection. Products containing iodine and vaginal lubricants may interfere with this test.

Contraindications
Specimens collected from males are not acceptable for this test. Samples collected from female patients such as amniotic fluid or urogenital sites that are not specifically listed are not acceptable for antigen testing; refer to Trichomonas vaginalis Culture (TRICH) for testing these samples.
