Test Overview
Test Methodology

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)

Test Usage

Rapid presumptive indication of the presence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex DNA in clinical specimens.

Reference Range *

Not detected.

Test Limitations

This test is specific for, but does not differentiate among, members of the M. tuberculosis complex, i.e., M. tuberculosis, M. bovis, M. bovis BCG, M. aficanum, M. microti, and M. canettii. A negative test result does not exclude the possibility of isolating an M. tuberculosis complex organism from the specimen.
