Establish the presence of antibodies to Listeria monocytogenes
<1:8. Single titers >=1:8 are suggestive of listeria infection. A four-fold or greater increase in titer between acute and convalescent specimens confirms the diagnosis.
2 - 5 days
- Listeria monocytogenes
Collect specimen in red top tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and refrigerate. Indicate whether sample is acute or convalescent. It is recommended that both acute and convalescent sera (taken 10-14 days after the acute serum sample) be sent.
Test is sent to Mayo Medical Laboratories; performed by Focus Diagnostics.
