Amphotericin B steady-state peak levels after intravenous administration: Mean adult peak level (3 mg/kg as sulfate): 2.6 mcg/mL; Mean adult peak level (4 mg/kg as sulfate): 2.9 mcg/mL; Mean adult peak level (1 mg/kg as lipid): 12.2 mcg/mL; Mean adult peak level (2.5 mg/kg as lipid): 31.4 mcg/mL; Mean adult peak level (5 mg/kg as lipid): 83.0 mcg/mL.

Specimen Requirements

Collection Onsite

Collect specimen in a red top tube; do not use SST tube. Protect specimen from light (place in brown plastic bag or aliquot into brown tube). Collect Peak specimen 30 minutes after the end of an I.V. infusion (one hour following I.M. or oral administration) or Trough specimen immediately before next dose is given.

Collection Offsite

Collect specimen in a red top; do not use SST tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and freeze. Protect specimen from light (place in brown plastic bag or aliquot into brown tube). Collect Peak specimen 30 minutes after the end of an I.V. infusion (one hour following I.M. or oral administration) or Trough specimen immediately before next dose is given.
