Test Usage

Assessing blood glucose levels over approximately a 20-day period. Assessment of insulin dosage in diabetics and evaluation of glycemia in pregnancy.

Collection Instructions

Collect specimen in an SST or lavender top tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum or plasma into a plastic vial and freeze.

Additional Information

The concentration of glucose that binds non- enzymatically to albumin is proportional to the mean blood glucose level. The glycated protein formed is stable and remains in the body until the albumin is degraded. Test sent to Mayo Medical Laboratories; performed by ARUP Laboratories.
