Test Overview
Liquid Chromatography/Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)
Assist in screening for and monitoring mastocytosis and disorders of systemic mast cell activation.
Age 0-5 yrs: 120 - 510 mcg/g creatinine; age 6-16 yrs: 70 - 330 mcg/g creatinine; age >16 yrs: 30 - 200 mcg/g creatinine.

Specimen Requirements
Collect random urine. Patients should not consume histamine - rich foods (e.g., cheese, chicken liver, eggplant, sauerkraut, sirloin steak, spinach, tomatoes, wine, or yogurt) for 24 hours prior to start of or during urine collection. Indicate if patient is taking an antihistamine.
Collect random urine. Transfer urine aliquot to a plastic container and refrigerate.
