Collect 3 mL of fluid. Centrifuge, separate supernanent, and send appropriately labeled supernatent and sediment in plastic vials frozen on dry ice. Note specimen source on requisition.
Test includes fractionation of lipids and lipoproteins by ultracentrifugation and electrophoresis for qualitative interpretation of chylomicrons and plasma lipoproteins, and quantitation of cholesterol and triglycerides.Test sent to Mayo Medical Laboratory
