Test Usage

Evaluation of placental function; threatened abortion; this test is of greatest value in the hypertensive patient.

Reference Range

Males and Non-Preganant Females: 0 - 0.1 µg/mL; 1st Trimester of Pregnancy: 0.2 - 2.1 µg/mL; 2nd Trimester of Pregnancy: 0.5 - 6.7 µg/mL; 3rd Trimester of Pregnancy: 4.5 - 12.8 µg/mL.

Collection Offsite

Collect blood in a red top tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vials and freeze. Indicate week of gestation on requisition form.
