Reverse transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR)

Test Usage

Assay sensitivity: 500 I.U./mL; A specimen with an interpretation of “No Genotype Result” cannot be presumed to be negative for the tested genotypes.

Specimen Requirements

Collection Onsite

Whole blood specimen must be sent to the laboratory within 6 hours of collection.

Collection Offsite

Collect specimen in an SST or red top tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a polypropylene plastic vial within 6 hours of collection and freeze. Do not allow the specimen to thaw at any time during storage or transport, due to possible degradation of the RNA.
