Chemiluminescent Immunoassay
Presence of hepatitis core IgM antibody indicates acute or very recent hepatitis B infection. The performance of this assay has not been established with cord blood, neonatal specimens, cadaver specimens, heat-inactivated samples or body fluids other than serum.

Specimen Requirements
Collect specimen in an SST or red top tube. Transport specimen to laboratory within 8 hours of collection. Alternatively, centrifuge specimen, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and refrigerate up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
