Kinetic Spectrophotometry (SP)
Evaluation of individuals with Coombs-negative nonspherocytic hemolytic anemia.
8.8 - 13.4 U/g hemoglobin. Abnormal values are usually 0 - 20% of normal mean.

In African-Americans with the Gd A-variant, normal values may be measured for several weeks following hemolysis. This is not the case with other Gd variants that predisopose to hemolysis.

Specimen Requirements
Collect specimen in a yellow top (ACD) solution B tube preferred; Lav top (EDTA) or ACD solution A are acceptable. Send 6.0 mL of intact whole blood. Refrigerate. Do not transfer blood to other containers.
