Diagnosis of recent infection with Bordetella pertussis in patients with > or = 2 weeks of symptoms consistent with whooping cough.

Specimen Requirements

Collection Onsite

Collect specimen in red top or SST tube. Post-vaccination samples should be collected 4-6 weeks from the date of vaccination.

Collection Offsite

Collect specimen in red top or SST tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and refrigerate. Post-vaccination samples should be collected 4-6 weeks from the date of vaccination.
