Reference Range

CSF: appearance should be colorless and clear, WBC = 0-10/cmm, and all cell types seen should be lymphocytes or histiocytes.

Specimen Requirements

Collection Onsite

Collect specimen using aseptic technique. Send specimen to laboratory within 1 hour of collection.If specimen must be stored, refrigeration is recommended. Specimen must be received within 4 hours of collection.

Collection Offsite

Collect specimen using aseptic technique. For optimal results, specimen should reach laboratory within 1 hr. If specimen must be stored, refrigeration is recommended. Specimen must be received within 4 hours of collection.
