Michigan Center for Translational Pathology

Michigan Center for Translational Pathology (MCTP) provides services to meet the medical needs of the University of Michigan Health System and MLabs Clients. Currently, MCTP offers urine PCA3 (Gen-Probe) test for prostate cancer detection and CellSearch® Circulating Tumor Cell (CTC) testing for breast, prostate and colorectal cancers and is in the process of developing other emerging molecular diagnostic tools.

Michigan Center for Translational Pathology continues to comprehensively characterize disease using novel bioinformatics approaches and high-throughput technologies. This work will facilitate more accurate, early detection methods, assist in the prediction of prognosis, define disease subtypes, as well as assist in the assessment of treatment efficacy. These efforts could result in the future development of targeted therapies. Further characterizations for prostate cancer and other conditions are ongoing.
Specimens submitted to the Michigan Center for Translational Pathology Laboratory must be properly labeled and accompanied by a completed MCTP Test Requisition. Please refer to the MLabs Test Catalog for available assays and specimen collection requirements.

The MCTP Laboratory offers the following testing:
