Effective August 1, 2023, the Michigan Medicine Core Laboratory and point of care testing locations will lower the upper limit of the reference range for Lactic Acid from 2.2 mmol/L to 2.0 mmol/L to harmonize with sepsis SEP-1/CMS guidelines requiring actions to be taken when Lactic Acid is greater than 2.0. All other reporting for Lactic Acid, including critical value limits, will remain the same.
