The MLabs Chemical Pathology Laboratory will begin offering Thyrotropin Receptor Antibody testing utilizing an electrochemiluminescence immunoassay (ECLIA) on the Roche e411 platform effective February 28, 2023. This test replaces Mayo Clinic Laboratories test ID THYRO.

Measurement of Thyrotropin Receptor Antibody (TRAb) is used to diagnose and manage autoimmune thyroid disease (i.e., Graves disease), neonatal hypothyroidism, and postpartum thyroid dysfunction. The test is the recommended first-line test for detection of thyrotropin receptor antibodies and measures the presence of stimulating, blocking and neutral antibodies. Using a decision limit of 1.75 IU/L, the test has a sensitivity of 97% and a specificity of 99% for detection of Graves disease.

Collection Instructions: Collect specimen in an SST (preferred) or red top tube. Centrifuge, aliquot 1 mL (minimum 0.5 mL) serum into a plastic vial and refrigerate.

Reference Range: 0.00 – 1.75 IU/L
